R.I.S.K.

Recently my friend Renee wrote about Random Acts of Kindness. I'm sure many of you are familiar with the concept. We refer to it here as R.I.S.K. - Random Incidents of Sincere Kindness. It involves doing unexpected things for others to demonstrate Christ's love.

A friend of mine sent me a link to this video. May it inspire you to creatively look for ways to minister to the hearts of others. Will you be a "Johnny"?

I've seen this video before...it's very touching and inspiring. I had to watch it again! Thanks for posting it.

I notice on your sidebar a button that says "She Speaks 2009." Is that a convention or seminar? I've never heard of it.

One thing I have done is to offer people standing behind me who are complaining about the long wait in line as they have 'stuff' to attend to...when it gets to my turn, I just turn and say..."Would you like to go ahead of me..I'm not on a deadline"...and it always amazes me that how much facial change occurs...all the anger disappears, a smile...a mumbled thank you..almost sheepish...and I pray that it changes their day and allows them to be gracious to someone else...
the domino effect...
the unexpected kindness always gets to me as well..like when someone unexpectedly tells me they were praying for me...like you...thank you, Joy...

Joy-- This is my first time visiting your blog. Loved the video. When Jesus told His disciples to be "light of the world," He followed up that command with how: not by preaching the gospel, surprisingly, but by how we live. "Let your light so shine before men in such a way that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father who is in Heaven."

My favorite thing about the video was how it spread throughout the store. A very small light in the darkness can be seen for miles around.

Thanks for posting!

First of all-I came from Elaines site-I am praying for your dad as I wrote for Elaine and her friend Beth "I have added your dad to my prayer list. May he find God's healing and comfort but most of all His peace. We serve and love a limitless God-all things ARE possible!!

I lived this video a few weeks ago paying for the meal of the car behind me in a drive through (http://inhisgraces.blogspot.com/2009/01/have-you-ever-had-one-of-those-moments.html). It was really fun!!

Have a great and peace-filled weekend!!
